{"id":624,"date":"2010-05-31T15:21:23","date_gmt":"2010-05-31T19:21:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/2010\/05\/31\/disclosure-transparency-legitimacy-background-links\/"},"modified":"2016-05-10T09:04:07","modified_gmt":"2016-05-10T13:04:07","slug":"disclosure-transparency-legitimacy-background-links","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/2010\/05\/31\/disclosure-transparency-legitimacy-background-links\/","title":{"rendered":"Disclosure, Transparency, Legitimacy: Background Links"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image623\" src=\"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/book-reviews-tweet.jpg\" alt=\"book-reviews-tweet.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here are links to some old <i>GalleyCat<\/i> posts that expand upon the context of some of what I was getting at in <a href=\"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/2010\/05\/30\/professionalism-ethics-blogging\/\">my Book Blogger Con presentation<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>Last October, the Federal Trade Commission introduced a set of new guidelines on when bloggers should disclose the receipt of consumer goods, guidelines I viewed as too restrictive because <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediabistro.com\/galleycat\/publishing\/an_open_letter_to_the_ftc_139297.asp\">they served to delegitimize online media<\/a>.
