{"id":1289,"date":"2011-05-10T00:01:01","date_gmt":"2011-05-10T04:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/2011\/05\/10\/read-this-of-lamb\/"},"modified":"2011-05-08T14:16:15","modified_gmt":"2011-05-08T18:16:15","slug":"read-this-of-lamb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/2011\/05\/10\/read-this-of-lamb\/","title":{"rendered":"Read This: Of Lamb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image1288\" src=\"http:\/\/beatrice.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/harvey-porter-lamb.jpg\" alt=\"harvey-porter-lamb.jpg\" width=\"325\" align=\"right\" \/>The poet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mattheaharvey.info\/\" target=\"_blank\">Matthea Harvey<\/a> has collaborated with artist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amyjeanporter.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Amy Jean Porter<\/a> to create <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/partner\/29017\/biblio\/1934781819\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Of Lamb<\/i><\/a>, an &#8220;illustrated erasure&#8221; that retells the story of Mary and her little lamb using a Lord David Cecil&#8217;s <i>A Portrait of Charles Lamb<\/i> as its foundation. Harvey&#8217;s short poems were created by taking a page from the biography and stripping away all but a few words, around which Porter creates an illustration. I haven&#8217;t seen all the artwork for this, but what I have seen has been fantastic, so <a href=\"http:\/\/bitchmagazine.org\/post\/bibliobitch-of-lamb\" target=\"_blank\">the judgment of <i>Bitch<\/i>&#8216;s Lindsay Baltus<\/a> that &#8220;Harvey and Porter have taken a book about a stuffy second-rate 19th century writer, written by an equally stuffy aristocrat-cum-biographer, and turned it into the very colorful tale of a woman&#8217;s deep love for her woolly friend&#8221; seems on the mark. And Porter&#8217;s original drawings will be exhibited at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppowgallery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">P.P.O.W.
