You can follow them<br \/>\ninto Madagascar &#038; across the Mozambique<br \/>\nChanel &#038; still not register<br \/>\nan acknowledgment. This is sad because you<br \/>\nmean no harm &#038; you have taken<br \/>\ngreat pains to mimic their trills, chuckles,<br \/>\n&#038; whistles. Just to hear Darwin<br \/>\nspeak of them, you know that the scythe<br \/>\nof their bills is made for the erratic<br \/>\nsnatch of wings midflight, &#038;, as the wings<br \/>\nare indigestible, they eject them. This is<br \/>\nnot to say that bee-eaters sugar their songs<br \/>\nwith upbeats before disgorging&#8212;far<br \/>\nfrom it. Sometimes they beat the bee<br \/>\nagainst a branch, then croak. You are<br \/>\nsurprised that a diet of stingers yields a rain-<br \/>\nbow plumage, but, given one more reason<br \/>\nto quail, you hardly blush. The mistake<br \/>\nis to imagine on moonlit nights<br \/>\nyou are one of them.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/partner\/29017\/biblio\/1587299712\" target=\"_blank\"><i>Cloud of Ink<\/i><\/a>, the second poetry collection by L.S. Klatt, is one of the recipients of the 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uiowapress.org\/authors\/iowa-prize.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Iowa Poetry Prize<\/a>. Other poems in the collection include &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/elevenelevenjournal.com\/Poetry_LS_Klatt.html\" target=\"_blank\">A Sudden Unspeakable Indignation<\/a>&#8221; (published in <i>Eleven Eleven<\/i>), &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.drunkenboat.com\/db11\/01poe\/klatt\/ovation.php\" target=\"_blank\">Ovation<\/a>&#8221; (<i>Drunken Boat<\/i>), and &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/versemag.blogspot.com\/2005\/01\/new-ls-klatt-poems.html\" target=\"_blank\">Crete<\/a>&#8221; (<i>Verse<\/i>; along with &#8220;Cortona&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m purely a poet of organic form,&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/entertainment\/kalamazoo\/index.ssf\/2011\/03\/interview_poet_ls_klatt_discus.html\" target=\"_blank\">Klatt said in a recent interview<\/a>. &#8220;I tend to write in blocks of text, then pattern them into lines and\/or stanzas, playing the symmetrical against the asymmetrical. I like that tension.
