Be Careful What You Say, Or You'll Give Yourself Away

Pretty soon, every agent in New York City's going to have an anonymous blog--at least, that's what it's starting to feel like. Hard on the heels of "Miss Snark" comes "Agent 007," a former book editor who has realized "it's nothing less than heartbreaking to view the state of editing from the other side." In her debut post, she adds, "I've only been an agent for a few years and already I’ve amassed quite a list of grievances. I'd recount them here, but I'm trying to be pithy (and anonymous). They boil down to a) treating authors like an afterthought, and b) simply being downright lazy and/or rude." Perhaps the horror stories will unfold in the days and weeks to come...

Maybe that former editor from Random House should be taking notes for her next career change...or about how to successfully blog in the shadows. In the meantime, since I know Snark's reading this and I assume '7 might be as well, I'm floating an offer for a top secret summit meeting of the anonymous agents.
