The Two Faces of Beatrice

Today marks the launch of a new blog on ArtsJournal.com: the "book review review" Beatrix. Yes, the name does sound suspiciously familiar, but it's only because I poured all my imagination into crafting the actual blog entries! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. The new blog already has some items I wrote last week about Curtis Sittenfeld, Marcel Proust, and Haruki Murakami, and the lineup will continue along that eclectic path.

How does that blog affect this one? Basically, in order to provide AJ with its first blog devoted solely to books and publishing, I decided to use that space to talk about book reviews, and this is where I'll talk about authors: author news, local readings, quotes from interviews author blogs, original interviews, and (I hope) an increasing assortment of guest star appearances. (This blog won't be entirely review-free, of course; after all, "Bad, Bad Writers" depends on quoting reviews.) So although I'm siphoning off a content stream to support the new blog, I firmly believe you'll still be entertained by this blog...and though you can get by reading just one or the other, I hope you'll give both a chance.
