For This, I Freely Admit I May Be Receiving Payola,
Though the Matter Is Open to Interpretation
by Ron Hogan
Koji Suzuki, the Japanese novelist behind the chilling Ring, came to New York a few months ago to help his American publisher, Vertical, promote Dark Water, a collection of horror stories (try the opening of "Floating Water"). Now the publisher is selling signed copies of this and other Suzuki books, and you can also get 1/3 off the cover price of any of their unsigned titles by ordering directly from them. (Please note: I have zero objectivity on this issue, as I like their books so much I've given them banner ads on popular archived pages to ensure the books don't ever stop coming. But if you don't trust my integrity, I hope you'll at least trust my taste!)
Now the company just needs to get its blog back on track...
