More Poetry Books Should Come With CDs
by Ron HoganTowards the end of National Poetry Month, I stumbled onto a batch of new collections from New Issues, the poetry wing of Western Michigan University's press and, as review books do, they quickly got overwhelmed by even newer arrivals. I kept meaning to sort through them and say something about Gerry LaFemina, Gretchen Mattox, David Dodd Lee, and Christine Hume, but just never got around to it. But today I decided to give the CD that comes with M.L. Liebler's The Moon a Box a whirl, and it's pretty cool in a jazzy Graham Parker sort of way, with guest musicians that include the legendary Al Kooper. Too bad his website doesn't seem to come with MP3s for folks to sample the wares...
