Checking In With NYTBR One More Time

Things I Liked, apart from Lizzie's review which I already gave its own entry: John Dean's review of The Politics of Truth (which, as noted earlier, the Times liked so much they put it in the Arts section days earlier to counter Michiko Kakutani's bungling effort), Michael Kinsley's long takedown of David Brooks, and the idea of Emily Nussbaum reviewing four sexually themed novels in a single long article. Actually, for that matter, I'm mostly satisfied with her execution of the concept as well, but the main pleasure comes from seeing a sort of "compare-and-contrast" piece I think would benefit the Review greatly; I look forward to more such articles in the months to come.

Also of note: lots and lots of letters, including a response from Lawrence Lessig to Thomas Mowrey, pointing out--as I did when Mowrey's letter was originally published--that you can get Free Culture for free if you want it. Although as you can see from the comments on that Mowrey link, he did find it, and he still wouldn't take it!
