We Had to Find Something
to Do in Bars Once We Couldn't Smoke...

by Ron Hogan

The NYT has discovered authors reading from their books in bars. In all fairness, the article does acknowledge that this sort of thing has been going on for years and years now, but then that sorta leaves me wondering what the story is. Still, anything that generates attention for Amanda Stern and Arthur Bradford is ultimately to the good, right?

That piece was such turd. It said absolutely nothing. Even the people in it seemed to be confused about what it was the journalist was after. It's a non story. The real story is buried deep within that piece of shit story. The real story is about Hodgman, Bradford and Stern and how enlivened and ennervating a force the three of them are. It's about a literary explosion too few people have heard about, not about the "scene" but about the authors themselves. Especially those three. They're all captivating. But that journalist, what a waste of space.
