René Burri, Magnum Photographer

Post-reading chitchat at last night's reading went on so long that I never made it to the other event on my schedule, a book party celebrating the publication of Photographs, a collection by renowned photojournalist René Burri. Here is some of what I missed. (The atmosphere of a party at the gallery at Hermes is, unfortunately, impossible to replicate online.)

But the Burri exhibition was just one facet of "Magnum in May," a monthlong celebration of the agency's photographers. So hopefully I'll get to catch up with some of the other shows; the exhibit of early Muhammad Ali photos by Thomas Hoepker sounds fascinating...
