Brace Yourself for Tomorrow's News Cycle

by Ron Hogan

The Independent dips into the buzz around Joe Wilson and tomorrow release of The Politics of Truth: Inside the Lies that Led to War and Betrayed My Wife's CIA Identity. The article, which also recaps some of the other hot books about the Bush presidency, does a good job of skirting the edges of the embargo surrounding Wilson's revelations about who he thinks leaked to Bob Novak--actually, looking again, I suspect Andrew Buncombe hasn't even seen the book yet and is just doing a great job of winging it, probably through paying close attention to the dispatches concerning the investigation into the leak. I have read the book, and though I suppose I could jumpstart the news, I'll decline at this time (largely because I've already been paid to write about it someplace else). I will say this: it's a shame that the hype around this single issue will undoubtedly dominate discussion of Wilson's compelling account of his entire career, because The Politics of Truth has a lot more to it than the "this damn administration" factor.
