I'm the Laureate, There Is None Higher
by Ron HoganMaud points out that Joseph Simmons, the Run in Run-DMC, wants to be poet laureate of Queens. They've been looking for so long, they might even overlook the fact he now lives in New Jersey. And, yes, he submitted Christmas in Hollis" as part of his portfolio.
Meanwhile, in the Forward, Rodger Kamenetz chats briefly with the ex-laureate, Hal Sirowitz.

That would just be outstanding. What a life that would be, the King of rock, and the poet laureate of Queens. It will only be marred by the absence of JMJ at the inauguration. I think I'd have used Hard Times before Christmas in Hollis, but anytime you can sneak collard greens into a poem I think you have to go for it.
Enjoy
