OK, it's not book-related...
by Ron Hogan...but it cracked me up anyway. I'm watching a TiVo-caught The Jackie Robinson Story (1950), in which Robinson plays himself, and it's mostly B-movie, although there's some interesting bits that deal with the racism fairly head on. Anyway, they mess with the history a bit, so instead of the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro League, he plays for a different team, and they announce his first appearance...
"...now batting for the Black Panthers, Jackie Robinson."
